PLAUSIBLE ATHENS
What if Athens was as a resilient community? How might it gently serve locals and visitors? How might it take care of its inhabitants given the climate conditions underway and the current technological developments? “Plausible Athens” is a fictional approach to the current geography of the centre of the city of Athens: a dreamy, idealistic and on the verge of (non) realistic map of city center, which could exist. Infrastructure and activities within the city, food and energy production, protection from weather extremes, latest technological developments, education, hospitality, mobility services and new belief systems are now in the hands of the local community, located downtown. A lucid instance that instantly fades away. Would we want to live in such a city of Athens? Designed for the Lismonir exhibition, a design show where creatives explored the word limonir, originating from the word “lismono” (=greek for forgetting / letting go) as the opposite of a souvenir.
